Springfield man hurt in wreck on Interstate 44

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

A Springfield man was injured yesterday in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 44 one mile east of Mt. Vernon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at 7 p.m. when the driver of a 2004 GMC Sierra, James W. Carson, 65, of Ash Grove, changed from the passing lane into the driving lane and struck a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, driven by John W. Coleman, 45, of Springfield. Coleman lost control of his vehicle and slid into the median.

Coleman was taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield with minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
