Jim Sallee, of Mt. Vernon, will be celebrating his 100th birthday on Nov. 13. Jim was married to Lena Sallee for 74 years before she passed away two years ago. He is a retired dairy and hog farmer and minister. This will be the first birthday that Jim will not be in the woods for deer hunting season. He has been an avid deer, elk and turkey hunter and a fisherman all of his life. He has two children, four grandchildren and a host of great-and great-great grandchildren. An open house will be hosted by his children, Carl Sallee and wife, Beth, and Sally Knight at Jim's new home at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13. Friends and family are invited to attend with the omission of gifts requested. Jim would also like to receive cards and letters. They can be mailed to 1425 S. Landrum, Room 210, Mt. Vernon, MO 65712.
