Pierce City falls in playoffs

The Pierce City Lady Eagles volleyball team fell in the state quarterfinals, 25-18, 25-9, to the Clever Lady Jays on Saturday.

Clever came into the match 37-0 and ranked number one in the state. Pierce City ends the season 27-4-5.

The Lady Eagles were led by Megan Golubski with five kills and nine assists.

Earlier in the day, Pierce City defeated Strafford in the sectional playoff round, 25-18, 25-21.

The Lady Eagles were led by Krishna Merriman with eight kills, Kaelyn Osborn with 10 digs and Golubski with 20 assists.
