Each month the Monett Area YMCA after-school childcare program focuses on a community service project. In October, to mark breast cancer awareness month, the children made pink tie dye T-shirts to bring attention to the issue. In September, they held a food drive to highlight hunger and obesity. Their biggest project is in April, when they wear blue for autism awareness. The children modeled their pink T-shirts above. Program leaders in the back row, from left, are: Josh Shaner, Derek Shields and Layla Minton, site director. Not shown is Kaitlyn Schumacher. [Times Photo by Murray Bishoff] [Order this photo]
