Larry Gene Stroud, age 65, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Larry was born on Oct. 16, 1946 to Carl and Pauline (Maberry) Stroud.
He was a graduate of Pierce City High School and attended Missouri State University. He graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1972.
Larry was a funeral director and mortician for 39 years. He served on the Missouri Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association for many years and was elected board president in 2008.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Cathy Stroud; a son: Brandon Stroud and a daughter: Stephanie Stroud, both of Springfield; two brothers: twin, Jerry Stroud and his wife, Nancy, of Monett; and Sam Stroud and wife, Pat, of Wichita, KS; nieces: Mendi Wormington and husband, Jared and Carrie Zahn and husband, Andrew, all of Monett; nephews: Jonathan Stroud, of Dallas, Texas and Matthew Stroud, of Sturgis, S.D.; a sister-in-law: Judy Twichel and husband, Mark, of Salt Lake City Utah; and niece and nephew, Laura and Scott Twichel, of Salt Lake City, Utah and several great nieces and great nephews.
Services were held on Friday, Oct. 21 at the Adams Funeral Home in Nixa. Burial was in the McConnell-Bledsoe Cemetery in Nixa.
