St. Mary's Carnival slated for Saturday

St. Mary's Catholic School in Pierce City will host its annual school carnival on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the school gym. A wide range of activities are planned.

The event starts at 5 p.m. with a soup and chili dinner, running until 7 p.m. The all-you-can-eat meal will include soup, chili, crackers, cheese, dessert and a drink. Cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children and free for ages 6 and under. Concessions, offering hot dogs, chili dogs, nachos, popcorn and candy, will be available during the event.

A costume contest will kick off activities at 6 p.m. Entries from infants through adults are welcome. Snapshots Photography will be taking pictures from 5 to 8 p.m. with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the school.

Games, which will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will include bingo, ring toss, dime pitch and many more. A general store will offer baked goods and other specialties.

A wide range of prizes will be available during various drawings. Among the prizes will be Silver Dollar City tickets; Grand Country Music Hall; the Wax Museum; Ride the Ducks; Ripleys Believe It or Not; Precious Moments figurines; Tammy Landoll Zumba classes; a pair of Justin work boots; Animal Clinic certificates; and gift cards from Town and Country, Thompson's; Wal-Mart and Casey's.

Tickets will be sold for $1 each or six for $5. Participants do not need to be present to win.

Children can get tickets for 50 cents. Prizes for youth will include Paintball Ridge passes; bikes; toys; savings bonds; gift cards; and a Strike Zone bowling party.

Prize donations for the dime pitch can be dropped off at the school.
