The community is being challenged by the Monett FFA Chapter to "can hunger" in the local area.
With that goal in mind, FFA members will be collecting non-perishable food donations to help Crosslines, the Monett Community Kitchen, and Loaves and Fishes. The collection will take place before the Thursday, Oct. 27 home football game against East Newton.
Anyone wishing to contribute is asked to bring their food donations to the game and drop that off at a truck that will partked near the gate going into the football stadium.
Tamra Sunby, Monett FFA advisor, said the group plans on making this an annual event.
"The football game is providing a wonderful opportunity to collect a large amount of food donations to help numerous people in our area," said Sunby.
"We always see such a tremendous turnout to our home games, so we felt it was the right time and place to ask for the support of our friends and neighbors," added FFA Secretary Hayley Long.
Next Thursday's game is also Senior Recognition Night as well as FFA Recognition Night.
"We would like to encourage all current FFA members, as well as FFA alumni, and Booster members to attend," said Long. "We would also like to ask that you wear something to show your FFA pride."
