On Sept. 21, students at three campuses in Monett participated in Pinwheels for Peace, an international art and literacy project. In the photo above, Monett Intermediate students planted pinwheels with messages of peace at the campus. From left, are: Esequiel Ceniceros, Corey Spain, Kylie Yax-Currens and Alyssa Waterman, all fifth graders. This is the fourth year Monett students have participated in Pinwheels for Peace. The event is an art installation project started in 2005 by two art teachers from Florida. Pictured below are Jose Gonzalez and Kassie McCallester from Central Park Elementary School. Coordinator for the event at Monett Elementary School was Jan Jenkins, art teacher. At Central Elementary and Monett Intermediate Schools the project was coordinated by art teacher Amy Green.
