Elementary, middle school and high school students are invited to check out a book at the library and get a book report form to complete and bring in for the Bookworm Club.

Teen Read Week will be Oct. 17 through Oct. 22. This year's theme is "Recover That Book" and "Read a Movie." The "Recover a Book" activity involves picking a favorite book and recreating its cover. The recovered book can be brought into the library, and a free book will be given in return.

For the "Read a Movie" event there are copies of "Rapunzel" to check out, and when it is returned, a free book will be distributed. On Oct. 19, there will be a movie related to the book. Teen Read Week bookmarks will be distributed during the week, and a special display will be available for the tweens and teens.

In celebration of fire safety week, the Pierce City Fire Department will visit the library at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 11. Story Time and Lap Time will be combined for that event.

Oct. 25 is hat day, and everyone is invited to wear a favorite hat. The Halloween party will be held on Nov. 1, combining Story Time and Lap Time for the event.

Library hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The library is located at 101 N. Walnut. For more information, call 417-476-5110 or visit http://www2.youseemore.com/blrl.
