The Alexander McNair Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) met on Sept. 10 at the First United Methodist Church. Refreshments were served by hostesses, Hope Morris and Judith Watson.
Regent Rebecca Ryder welcomed the group and led the group in the recitation of the DAR ritual, the Pledge of Allegiance, the American's Creed, the Pledge to the State of Missouri and the Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America.
Ryder led the business meeting, and Joyce Cusick presented the National Defense report. Remarks were presented by General Raymond Odierno, commander of the United States Joint Forces Command, on July 1 at the Continental Congress of the NSDAR. He attended as an representative of American service men and women.
Ryder presented a program entitled "Our Founding Fathers." She presented a lot of facts about the men who developed the governmental form.
Those attending were: Mary Cowherd, Joyce Cusick, Judy Harvey, Jane Head, Kim Howerton, Carol Jereczek, Margaret Meadows, Hope Morris, Rebecca Ryder, Barbara Ward, Judith Watson, Bonnie Yetter and Virginia Schmidt.
The next meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the First United Methodist Church in Monett. The program will be on Thomas McKeen, the signer of the Declaration of Independence.
