Monett takes seventh at Nixa

The Monett cross country team had a good showing at the Nixa Invitational on Tuesday.

Nixa won the boys' division with 87 points. Monett's boys finished seventh with 174 points.

Ryan Davidson, of Joplin, was the events top male runner out of 97 participants. Davidson completed the course in 16:01.

Monett's Chris Renteria finished 11th with a time of 17:05. Isaac Weber was 35th, finishing in 18:03.

Also finishing for Monett were: Michael Morley, 18:12; Jonah Ragsdale, 18:27; Erwin Perez, 19:04; Aaron Morley, 19:15; and Dalton Paynter, 19:32.

In the girls' division, Branson finished first with 33 points. Monett was eighth with 199 points.

Bridget Caruthers was the girls gold medal runner with a time of 19:16.

Madeleine Weber finished in 16th place for Monett recording a time of 21:43.

Also competing for Monett were: Emma Schupbach, 24:16; Sophie Fulton, 24:40; Brittany Schultz, 25:22; Lupe Renteria, 26:03; and Ashley Schmidley, 27:57.

"I am extremely proud of my squad," said Monett coach Kelly George. "We had 10 runners set personal records. I challenged the kids to run hard and they responded."

Monett will be in action on Saturday at East Newton.
