Four area piano students of John Archer, of Pierce City, auditioned for the Southwest Missouri Music Teachers District auditions held on Sept. 18 at Southwest Missouri University in Springfield.
The students received superior I ratings making them eligible to audition for the Missouri State Piano auditions to be held on Nov. 6 at Missouri Western University in St. Joseph. If the students receive a superior rating in St. Joseph, they will be invited to perform in a state honors recital, which features top performers from all of the Missouri districts.
Josee Caudle, eighth grade student from Monett, performed a fantasia by Telemann and a sonatina movement by Lichner. She is the daughter of Shannon and Jeremy Willman.
Kevin Abramovitz, sixth grade student at St. Mary's in Pierce City, performed a sonatina by Faust and a mini toccata by Baumgartner. He is the son of Paul and Mary Abramovitz.
Lydia Campbell, eighth grade home-schooled student from Mt. Vernon, played a tarantella by Beaumont and a prelude by Gliere. Emily Campbell, an 11th grade home-schooled student from Mt. Vernon, performed a movement from a Beethoven sonata, a two-part invention by Bach and a nocturne by Grieg. Lydia and Emily are the daughters of Greg and Barbara Campbell.
