Wreck leaves five hurt

Five people were injured in a two-vehicle wreck Saturday on Farm Road 1070 three miles north of Monett.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred at 5:27 p.m. when the driver of a 2009 Chevrolet, Samuel E. Cox, 38, of Pierce City, pulled into the path of a 1996 Dodge Dakota, driven by Chester D, Mitchell, 53, of Monett, causing Mitchell to broadside the Cox vehicle.

Mitchell and a passenger in his vehicle, Sharon K. Mitchell, 57, of Monett, were taken to Cox Monett Hospital with minor and moderate injuries respectively. They were both wearing seat belts.

Three passengers in the Cox vehicle were also taken to Cox Monett Hospital. They were: Jake R. Cox, 4, of Pierce City, with minor injuries; Matthew G. Cox, 10, with moderate injuries; and Samantha R. Rusow, 34, of Pierce City, with minor injuries.
