The 2011 Not So Square Arts Festival will be held on Sept. 17 on the historic square in Mt. Vernon. There will be over 50 booths featuring painters, potters, authors and photographers.
Artists booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and entertainment will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The entertainment schedule will begin with the Not so Shakespeare in the Park players at 10:30 a.m. followed by instant improv by the Mt. Vernon High School drama team at 11 a.m. Other performances include: Millsap and Millsap, dueling pianos at 11:30 a.m.; Argentine Tango demonstrations in the street by Gustava and Maria of Buenos Aires at noon; Marbin, a Chicago-based rock and jazz band at 12:30 p.m.; the Mt. Vernon High School show choir at 1:30 p.m.; dueling pianos returns at 2 p.m.; Pommert Duo, classical guitar, at 2:30 p.m.; Not So Shakespeare In The Park players return at 3:30 p.m.; and StefanieRae at 4 p.m.
Authors workshops will be held at the Mt. Vernon Branch Library beginning at 10 a.m. with Kim Piddington followed by Sherry Nash at 11 a.m., Mandy Barke at 1 p.m. and Susan Kirkpatrick at 2 p.m.
Children's art will be displayed all day at the information tent.
Food booths will include KeenBean Coffee Roasters, Mt. Vernon Community Betterment and Desserts and More by Living Water G.A. Girls for World Hunger. The Williams Creek Winery will be available for wine tasting, and the Farmer's Market will be selling items.
