Four people hurt in wrecks

Two Shell Knob residents were injured in a crash yesterday on Highway 39 at the junction of Highway YY in Shell Knob.

The wreck occurred at 5:30 p.m. when the driver of a 2009 Chevrolet, Kallie A. Doyle, 16, stopped in the southbound lane to make a left-hand turn and was hit from behind by a 2004 Ford van, driven by Karl P. Mitchler, 41.

Both drivers were taken to St. John's Hospital-Cassville by private vehicle. Both were wearing seat belts.

Other crashes

* Two people were injured in a crash yesterday on Route P one-fourth of a mile north of Verona. The crash occurred at 8:10 a.m. when the driver of a 2007 Freightliner, Michael A. Tucker, 45, of Pratville, Ala., ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and then overturned. A passenger in the vehicle, Emory L. White II, 26, of Baltimore, Md., was seriously injured in the crash and airlifted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was not wearing a seat belt. Tucker was taken by ambulance to St. John's Hospital in Springfield with moderate injuries. He was wearing a seat belt.
