SWACC offers adult ed classes

The Southwest Area Career Center (SWACC) in Monett has announced its adult education class schedule for the fall and spring semesters. The fall semester will begin on Sept. 13 and continue through Dec. 17, and the spring semester will start on Jan. 23, 2012, and run through May 10, 2012.

The fall semester on-site courses include: basic computers I; basic computers II; beginning Photoshop, new course; AS400 or RPG; Word; Excel; Powerpoint; basic welding, electrical wiring/plumbing; baking; English for beginners and holiday cooking; yoga; and Zumba.

Education-To-Go online courses offer a wide variety of over 200 classes. There are new sessions every six weeks. Class time is flexible. To register and pay online, visit www.ed2go.com/swacc.

Enrollment time for on-site classes is Monday through Thursday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the SWACC campus. Applications are available online at monett-schoolfusion.us.

Spring semester classes include: basic computers I; basic computers II; Word; Excel; Powerpoint; AS400 or RPG; web page design, new class; advanced Photoshop, new class; basic welding; introduction to machine tooling; forklift certification, new class; "Cooking On My Own;" yoga; and Zumba.

Additional lab, textbook fees and supplies may be required.

"Adult education is extremely important for those wishing to expand their education," said Kim McCracken, adult education coordinator. "It provides opportunity to update and refresh skills."
