The Cassville Rotary Club will host its ninth annual demolition derby at the Bill Hailey Rodeo Arena in Cassville at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27.
"This is always an exciting event," said Herb Primrose, Cassville Rotary Club member. "There will be lots of noise and lots of crashes. People really like motorsports now, and this is one of the wildest motorsport events held."
This year's demolition derby will once again be presented by Grandstand Attractions, Inc., of Mechanicsburg, Ill.
"We never know how many drivers we will have until the night of the event, though," said Primrose. "The number of competition classes will be determined the night of the event also."
The Cassville Rotary Club Demolition Derby traditionally features the following competition classes: stock, modified and compact. A mini van class could also be added if there are several mini van entries.
Around $3,500 in cash prize money will be up for grabs at this year's demolition derby. The final three automobiles running in each heat will receive prize money and qualify for the championship heat.
"Spectators should expect to have lots of fun," said Primrose. "Come hungry. There will be concessions available at the derby."
Seating is available at the Bill Hailey Arena, but spectators can bring lawn chairs to the event.
Tickets for the Cassville Rotary Club Demolition Derby are $7 for adults. Children who are between the ages of 6 and 12 will be admitted for $4, and children who are under the age of 6 get in for free.
