Second body is identified

Thursday, August 25, 2011

The second body found with Rebecca Porter in a wooded area in Taney County has now been confirmed as her husband, Rusty Porter.

Taney County Coroner Kevin Tweedy announced lab tests at the University of North Texas had confirmed the identification of Rusty Porter. The Porters had been missing from their Willard home since April 25. Their bodies were found on July 21 near Protem.

Rebecca Porter is the sister of Monett contractor Jim Hufft. The announcement of Rusty Porter's identification came on the same day as funeral services for Rebecca Porter were held in Crane.

While Rebecca Porter was identified from dental records, lab technicians used medical records, MRI imaging and DNA. Tweedy said the lab is still trying to determine the cause of death.

The deaths of the Porters are being investigated as a homicide by the Greene County Sheriff's Department.
