Carthage- Joplin Regional Stockyards: Feeder Cattle Auction Close for 08/15/2011

   Compared to last week's lighter run, yearling feeder cattle weighing over 
700 lbs sold 2.00-4.00 higher.  Middle-weight weaned calves and lightweight 
yearlings from 500-700 lbs found the most interest and traded 4.00-8.00 
higher, while steer and heifer calves under 500 lbs sold firm to 4.00 higher 
than last week's advances.  Welcome relief came to the Four-State-Area over 
the past week in the form of cooler temperatures and sporadic rain showers.  
Strong fed cattle sales continue to support feeder prices.  Supplies included 
49 percent steers, 45 percent heifers, and 6 percent feeder bulls.  Around 48 
percent of the cattle weighed over 600 lbs.  Note:  Joplin Regional 
Stockyards will hold a Special Video Auction this Thursday August 18th at 
1:00 PM expecting over 7500 head.
