To get a library card for the Barry-Lawrence County Regional Library the applicant needs a photo identification and proof of current residency. If residencey is out of Lawrence or Barry counties, there will be a $20 annual fee. If residency is out of Lawrence or Barry counties but the applicant owns property in either county, the fee is waived since the applicant pays property taxes, which support thelibrary system.

The Pierce City Branch has added to the DVDs this week. They include: Heaven Knows; Mr. Allison; Roman Holiday and Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost.

New adult fiction includes: "South of Superior" by Ellen Airgood; "The One Who Waits For Me" by Lori Copeland; "The Ideal Man" by Julie Garwood; "Victory and Honor" by W.E.B. Griffin; "Running Homeless" by Al Lamanda; "Acceptable Loss: a William Monk Novel" by Anne Perry; "Six Gun Vendetta" by Jon Sharpe; "The Stranger From Abilene: a Ralph Compton Novel" by Joseph A. West.

One title has been added for the young adult readers, which is "The Truth of the Matter" by Andrew Klavan.

For the youngest patrons, the library has added "Carl and the Baby Duck," another book about Carl the lovable Rottweiler, by Alexandra Day. There will be flyers available soon with information about the upcoming schedule for this year's Preschool Story Time and Lap Time at the Library. For the children in kindergarten through high school, there will be information about the Bookworm Club. The fun starts the second week in September. Preschool Story Time, for children 3 to 5, and Lap Time at the Library, for babies and toddlers up to 3, meet weekly and will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Preschool Story Time begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by Lap Time at 11 a.m. The first meeting of the Bookworms, which meets on the second Wednesday of the month, will be Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.

A representative from the library will either be attending all the school open houses or will have flyers available for parents at the open houses.

For more information, call 417-476-5110. Business hours at the Pierce City Library are Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The library is located at 101 N. Walnut, just north of the grandstand.
