Crews with APAC-Missouri, Inc., will resurface Route H from Cleveland Street, on the north side of Monett, to I-44, beginning on Aug. 15. Motorists should expect slight delays for the next four weeks. For more information, contact MoDOT at 1-888-275-6636.

Cox Monett Auxiliary will host Deals for Diabetes from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12 and from 9 a.m. to noon, or until items are sold out, on Saturday, Aug. 13 at the former Front Page building in downtown Monett, located next to Bruner's Pharmacy. The event is a gift shop clearance sale. All clearance sale items will be marked up to 90 percent off. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cox Monett Diabetes Center. Nancy Ridgley, certified diabetes educator, will be present to answer questions about diabetes.

The 23rd annual Pierce City car show will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13 in the St. Mary's Church parking lot. A rain date is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 20. Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to noon and the cost is $15. The first 100 to register will receive a dash plaque. Trophies will be awarded to the top 90 vehicles plus top point awards. An awards ceremony will be held from 2:30 to 3 p.m. There will be a silent auction, T-shirts and food. Proceeds will benefit the Pierce City High School junior class. The New Liberty Methodist Church will be holding a garage sale on Friday, Aug. 12 and Saturday, Aug. 13 beginning at 8 a.m. The church is located three miles east of Monett on Highway 60 and one mile on Highway Z. Proceeds will go toward church mission projects.

A Monett junior high parents athletic meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Aug. 15 in the Monett Middle School auditorium. Junior high volleyball tryouts will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15 and from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16 at the Monett E.E. Camp gymnasium. Junior high football equipment checkout will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16 for eighth grade and from 6 to 7 p.m. for seventh grade at the field house at Burl Fowler Stadium.

Deaf Friends will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 at the Monett City South Park, south of Highway 60. There will be a cookout. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish or chips. Those wishing to attend need to call 417-489-6168.

The PCCW of St. Mary's Church in Pierce City will be hosting a bake sale during the Howdy Neighbor Days car show from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13. It will be held under the church pavilion.

World Finance Corporation, of Monett, is accepting school supply donations for Joplin fifth graders. Supplies that are needed include: 24-count crayons; 4-ounce white glue; wide line notebook paper; #2 yellow pencils; glue sticks; spiral notebooks, wide line; wide rule composition notebooks; facial tissue; washable markers; colored pencils; six-inch pointed scissors; pocket folders with brads; 1.5-inch three-ring binders; black dry erase markers; ear buds; index divider tabs; and red ballpoint pens.
