Purdy Alumni scholars

The Purdy Alumni Association awarded scholarships to four Purdy High School graduates at its annual meeting in June.

Madeline Tate, daughter of Tommy Joe and Tracy Tate, received the $500 Leroy Howard Scholarship. Madeline plans to attend Missouri State University and pursue a degree in clinical psychology.

The Vedas Jackson Scholarship was awarded to Rebecca Neil, daughter of Russ and Renae Neil. Rebecca will use the $500 award at Southwest Baptist University where she will pursue a degree in communication and pre-law.

Riley Veith, son of Ronnie and Renee Veith, received the $500 Purdy Alumni Association Scholarship. Riley plans to attend the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kan. He plans to play baseball and pursue a degree in business management and marketing.

The Purdy Class of 1964 Scholarship, which is a $250 award, was presented to Nicole Terry, daughter of James and Donna Terry. Nicole will attend Missouri State University and pursue a degree in exercise movement or physical therapy.

During the meeting, the Purdy Alumni Association learned that 54 students graduated from Purdy High School this year. Of those, 48 will be attending a college or university, two are entering the military and four will join the local workforce.
