Wreck leaves one hurt

Thursday, August 4, 2011

A three-car crash on Highway 86 three miles north of Wheaton left a Fairview woman injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday when the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Blazer, Danny O. Taylor, 56, of Fairview, and the driver of a 1996 Freight-liner dump truck, Jason Smith, 36, of Anderson, were both stopped in the northbound lane of traffic. The driver of a 1998 Jeep Wrangler, Andrew G. Loyd, 19, of Wheaton, struck the Blazer from behind, forcing it into the back of the dump truck.

An occupant in the Taylor vehicle, Lucille Taylor, 79, of Fairview, was taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield with moderate injuries. The Patrol report indicated that Loyd was the only party involved in the crash that was not wearing a seat belt.
