Pierce City Library News

Friday, July 29, 2011

New non-fiction titles added to the shelves at the Pierce City Library include: "Seven Ways to Read the Bible: A Glimpse at Over 250 English Translations" by L. Dale Richesin; "A Child is Born" by Lennart Nilsson; "Muscular Dystrophy" by Alan E. H. Emery; and "The Quilt Room" by Lam Lintott. New DVDs are: Elvis 4-Pack, Volume 1; Rango; Secret at Arrow Lake; and Wild African Cats.

The summer reading clubs are done for 2011. The library had some amazing presenters for the groups of children and teens. The library thanks the presenters for sharing the special talents. Another thank you to the businesses and families who supported the program with cash and prize donations.

Preschool Story Time is for children three and up; Lap Time is for lap babies up to the age of three; The Bookworm Club is for children in kindergarten and up through high school age. All three programs will begin the second week of September. Story Time is every Tuesday beginning on Sept. 14 at 10:30 a.m., immediately followed by Lap Time at 11 a.m. The Bookworm Club will meet on the second Wednesday of each month beginning on Sept. 21 at 4 p.m.

Information will be handed out at the open houses at each school regarding Preschool Story Time, Lap Time and The Bookworm Club. As long as a parent or legal guardian has a library card with the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library system, the child can participate in any of the three activities.

The Pierce City Branch Library is located at 101 N. Walnut in Pierce City. Business hours are 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and every 9 a.m. until 1p.m. on Saturdays.
