Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 07/29/11
Thursday, July 28, 2011
MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News
Summer burns on this week with a record number of days over 90 degrees.
Each day the rapidly rising mercury pushes us to a more rapid decline
in pasture conditions and loss of soil moisture. We are on the downhill
side of summer and can begin to look forward to fall and the recovery of
pasture conditions that come with the season. This is of little
consolation to the Southwest region of the state who are now officially
in drought and are beginning to report the need to feed cattle as pasture
is no longer available. Its a different tale in the North and Northeast
where alot pasture is still rated good and soil moisture remains
adequate. Hay demand is light and supply is moderate. Prices are steady.
