Springfield-Springfield Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 7/25/2011

   Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows sold 2.00-3.00 lower with in-
stances late in the sale 4.00 lower and slaughter bulls sold 2.00-3.00 lower
on a light supply. The offering included a high percent of cull dairy cows
and several small herd dispersals. The lack of moisture and high temperatures
has dried up pastures and forced many producers to begin feeding hay. The
present forage situation put pressure on the bred cow and cow/calf pair
prices. Supply was moderate and demand light to moderate for slaughter
classes.
