A special bond election for the City of Monett will be held on Aug. 2. Absentee voting continues through Monday, Aug. 1 at the Barry County Clerk's office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Cassville. One form of identification must be presented to vote. The last day to request a ballot to be mailed is Wednesday, July 27. For more information, call 417-847-2762.

The Pierce City High School football team will host a summer football camp from 6 to 8 p.m. July 25 through July 29 at Don Keebaugh Stadium in Pierce City. On Friday, July 29, the varsity football team will host a peewee football camp for kindergarten through sixth grade players from 6 to 7 p.m. The camp is free.

The Christian County Historical Society is hosting a commemorative ceremony for the 150th anniversary of the battle at Dug Springs, near Clever. The event will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug 7 at the Clever Middle School parking lot at 401 W. Inman St. The event is free and open to the public. The Crane Broiler Festival Association is accepting entries for the annual Slick Chick Pageant, which will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26. The pageant is open to contestants in the following age categories: tiny miss, 0 to two years; chickadee, three to five years; little miss, six to nine years; young miss, 10 to 12 years; and miss, 13 to 16 years. The annual Kings Prairie Music Festival will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13 at the old Kings Prairie school house, located across from the Liberty Methodist Church on Farm Road 2015. The Carterville Christian Church is hosting a big warehouse sale on Saturday, Aug. 13, located on 20123 Gravel Rd. in Carterville. A truckload of new merchandise, including sporting goods, household items, clothing and general merchandise, will be offered for a donation. Proceeds will go toward the Feed the Heart food ministry.
