Monett's Michaela Wallace continues to make a splash on the national music scene as she embarks on the second leg of the Camplified tour.

The tour brings together talented young artists and schedules them to play rock concerts at youth camps across the country. Michaela is one of 15 emerging artists participating in the 2011 tour.

During the first leg of the tour, Michaela performed at three different camps in Wisconsin and Illinois. This week, Michaela travels to the northeast and will visit camps in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. The final portion of the tour, which begins Aug. 9 and continues through Aug. 13, will take Michaela back to New York with additional stops in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

The Camplified experience features day-long interaction between the campers and the performers, including cookouts, guitar lessons and question and answer sessions. Activities culminate with a 90-minute concert where three different artists take the stage to play 25-minute sets.

Travelling from camp to camp on a tour bus is giving Michaela a taste of life in the spotlight.

"This first week has been a lot of fun and it has been super crazy," said Michaela. "It has definitely been a great experience so far, and I am excited for the second and third leg of the tour."

Performing in front of crowds of screaming teens and tweens is part of the tour experience, and Michaela is loving it.

"They have so much energy, and I feed off their energy so it really makes the whole experience 10 times better," Michaela said.

The response to Michaela's music, which includes the hit "Justin Bieber's Girlfriend," has been exceptional. After her first show at Camp Chi in Lake Delton, Wisc., Michaela went to the band's van to rest between shows and was swarmed by young fans.

"My tour manager, Graham, had to kick it into bodyguard mode to keep them from trampling me," said Michaela. "Then once I finally got to the van and got the door shut, they were surrounding all sides, pounding on the windows and looking in screaming my name. It was insane and a little overwhelming."

Michaela sings and plays the guitar with the back up of a new set of Nashville-based band members, who include Ethan Ballinger on lead guitar, Noah Denney on bass, Hans Nelson on keyboard and Lee Holland on drums.

"They are a great group of guys to help me learn the ropes of touring and performing in front of live audiences," explains Michaela. They also wear hightop rainbow Converse Chuck Taylor shoes, which makes them even more awesome."

As part of the tour experience, Michaela is recording a VLOG (video blog) for every day she performs at a camp and uploading those videos to her YouTube Channel at www.youtube.com/michaelawallacemusic. Readers can also follow Michaela on Facebook at www.facebook.com/michaelawallacemusic.
