William Medlin, a 2007 Monett High School graduate, spoke at his week's meeting of the Monett Kiwanis Club.
Medlin, who was introduced by his father, Bill Medlin Jr., recently completed four years of study at Missouri State University. His scholarship from the club provided $1,000 a year for four years. Medlin earned a degree in education and physical ed. He is qualified to teach kindergarten through 12th grade.
Medlin said he would prefer to teach high school. He has training to coach any sport, boys or girls. Medlin said he is still looking for a job and may substitute until a full-time position becomes available. He prefers to find a job in Missouri.
Medlin thanked the club for the scholarship.
Kiwanis President Frank Washburn presided at the meeting. Norm Hammond was the program chairman. The speaker was introduced by his father.
In club news, Kiwanians have agreed to host the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus in Monett on Sept. 14. Two performances will be given, at 5 and 7:30 p.m., at a location to be announced.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at Grant's restaurant. The speaker will address human trafficking.
The Monett Kiwanis Club meets on Tuesdays for a meal and a program.
