The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) will have the following blood drives: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, July 11 at St. John's Hospital-Cassville; noon to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 11 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Monett; 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12 at Yoder Farms in Verona; 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13 at Washburn First Baptist Church; and from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 15 at St. John's Hospital-Aurora.

The Wheaton Volunteer Fire Department will host the 53rd annual barbecue on Saturday, July 9 at the Wheaton City Park. Barbecue chicken will be served at 11:30 a.m. and other food vendors will be available. The duck race will begin at 8 p.m., and entertainment will begin at 4 p.m. There will be an arts and crafts show. For more information on the arts and crafts, call 417-652-7359 or 417-652-3632. The Monett 911 Communications Center will be testing the tornado sirens and emergency phone notification system at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 11 instead of Monday, July 4 due to the holiday. The Flood Notification System will be tested at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 11. Individuals may report any malfunctions to the Monett 911 Communications Center by calling 235-4241.

First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church in Monett will be hosting vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon July 18 through July 22. The theme is "Galactic Blast" for children age 4 to 11. The event is sponsored by First Christian Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Stephen's Episcopal and Waldensian Presbyterian Church. For more information, call Pastor Ron Stair at 235-7233.

The annual Purdy Livestock Show and Festival will be held on Saturday, July 9. In addition to the livestock show, the event will offer business booths and concessions. For more information, call 417-291-5819.

The 15th annual ice cream social at New Liberty Methodist Church will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 16. The church is located two miles east of Monett and south on Highway Z. Live entertainment will feature gospel music.

The Hobbs-Anderson American Legion will host a spaghetti dinner from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 at the Legion Hall, located at 717 E. Broadway in Monett. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under the age of 12. Carry-out service is available.

Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. on Sundays, 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 8 p.m. on Fridays at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located at 405 Seventh St. in Monett. For more information, call 236-0216 or 678-2278.
