Monett Lions Club members lifted the covers off the barbecue pits at South Park last night to make preparations for annual barbecue chicken dinner sales on Saturday. Lions will cook 1,300 chicken halves to sell in the dinner package. Cost is $5.50 in advance and $6 at the park if any tickets are still available. Purchases in advance can be made at the Monett banks and from Lions Club members. Lions at work, from left, are: President Robbie Davis, Al Dohmen, Matt Wages, barbecue chairman Bob Davis and Brad Kilgore. The barbecue pits have been used annually since 1958. My dad was a Lions member in Monett when we lived there in the 1940's to 1990's. I remember going to the chicken barbecue, food was delicious and had a great time. Who knows, maybe some day I'll bring my family to the barbecue so they also can enjoy it. Susan Gliedt Crandell...daughter of
