Landscaping improvements were recently completed at Benchmark Healthcare of Monett by volunteers. Approximately 12 people trimmed shrubs, weeded garden beds and removed some old rock ground cover to make way for a new weed barrier, soil and mulch. Flowers and plants were planted to decorate the entryway and yard areas from donations from Boucher's Plant Farm. Rusty Boucher, whose mother is a resident, designed the landscaping, and Wickman's Garden Village provided a lot of the materials. Volunteers and family members also brought plants and flowers. "I can't thank the volunteers enough for their generosity. We scheduled the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. but many of them stayed until 5 p.m.," said Trish Markussen, administrator of Benchmark. Among the volunteers were four members of the First Baptist Church youth group. "Those kids were great," said Markussen. "None of them had family who were residents here, but there were here nonetheless for our seniors. That's volunteerism at its best."
