Lynn Carnes, of Monett, is the proud owner of a dapple dwarf dachshund, appropriately named Pee Wee. Pee Wee was born to miniature dachshund parents on April 19, weighing only a few ounces. PeeWee's mother, Fancy, had a litter of three puppies, two were miniatures and one was the dwarf puppy. According to Carnes, the dwarf dachshunds are very rare. "The dogs are considered special needs dogs and need to be watched very carefully," said Carnes. Pee Wee now weighs approximately one-and a half pounds at nine weeks old. Carnes stated that she has been told that he will only grow to approximately two and a half pounds. Carnes received the puppy from her daughter and son-in-law, David and Theresa Wilson, who raise dachshunds in Seligman. [Times Photos by Lisa Craft] [Order this photo]
