A new exhibit, "Sheet Music during Theron Bennett's Music Career," goes on display this weekend at the Harold Bell Wright Museum, 404 Walnut in Pierce City. The exhibit includes 54 pieces of music from the 1890s to the mid-1920s. Bennett, Pierce City native, joined a Chicago, Ill., publishing firm in 1903, wrote music and later started his own publishing company, releasing new pieces into the 1920s. Museum board member Murray Bishoff, shown above, selected the music from his collection, illustrating popular trends, the evolution of cover art and changing ideas of beauty, a cross-section of the marketplace while Bennett was at work. Several of Bennett's pieces are included in the exhibit. The Harold Bell Wright Museum is open from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays. [Times Photo by Lisa Craft] [Order this photo]
