County hit by wave of vehicle break-ins

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

A rash of vehicle break-ins has prompted area law enforcement officials to issue a warning to local residents.

The Barry County Sheriff's Department has responded to numerous reports of vehicle break-ins in recent weeks, and Sheriff Mick Epperly is asking citizens to be on the defensive.

"I am cautioning everyone not to leave money, medicine or any valuables in your car," said Sheriff Epperly.

Vehicle break-ins have occurred across Barry County. Suspects are breaking into vehicles and stealing money, prescription medicine and other items of value. The incidents are occurring at all times during the day and night, and if the cars are locked, the suspects are breaking out windows.
