Law enforcement officials are still seeking information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for an armed robbery and a bank robbery in Monett, as well as information leading to the arrest of the person who broke into a Shell Knob pharmacy and stole several bottles of the narcotic Hydrocodone.
That information was announced at the June meting of the Barry-Lawrence Chapter of Crime Stoppers.
According to Monett Police Chief Tim Schweder, some information has come in over the tips line and through the Internet, but so far, no arrests have been made in any of the three incidents.
"Things are picking up," Schweder said. It's summertime. It will get worse."
Board members and law enforcement officials discussed a number of upcoming events where members of the Crime Stoppers board could make a presence on behalf of the organization. They also considered hosting a fundraising event to boost the Crime Stoppers reward fund to pay tipsters for accurate information on locating suspects.
Law enforcement officials discussed a number of recent break-ins in the bi-county area where thieves are breaking into vehicles at night to steal items. When confronted by a northern Barry County resident in the early morning hours earlier this month, the suspects brandished a weapon.
"We've had dozens of calls over this type of activity," commented Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly in a follow-up phone interview. "We actually believe the gun was stolen from one of the vehicles that the thieves broke in to."
In other business, a board member has volunteered to take classes in grant-writing to seek grants for local law enforcement agencies and the Barry Lawrence Chapter of Crime Stoppers.
Barry-Lawrence Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of suspected felons.
