Missouri Weekly Hay Summary Week ending 6/17/11
Thursday, June 16, 2011
MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News
Haying slowed this week as rain threats kept many tractors parked. Flooding
in areas near the Missouri and other major rivers is on the minds of many
threatening crops as well has homes and businesses. Wheat harvest is off to
a good start in the southern areas of the state even though the crop in
most cases isn’t in the best condition. Even with a delayed start to the
hay harvest, favorable haying weather over the last couple of weeks
allowed producers to bale enough hay to put progress near average levels.
Supply moderate and demand light. Hay prices are steady to firm.
Missouri Department of Agriculture has a hay directory available for
both buyers and sellers. To be listed, or for a directory, visit
