Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 6/08/11

Thursday, June 9, 2011

Receipts: 705 Last Week: 880 Last Year: 1204

Compared to last Wednesday, breaking and boning slaughter cows sold
steady to 1.00 higher and lean cows sold steady to 1.00 lower while
slaughter bulls sold steady on a light supply. The greatest demand was
for the fat breaking cows as most slaughter buyers reported they had plenty
of boning and lean cows on hand. Only a few bred cows and cow/calf traded
and returned to the farm as many producers are still busy in the hay fields.
Several good quality fleshy bred cows went to slaughter today. Supply was
light to moderate and demand good for slaughter classes.
