Broadway Nights returns on Friday to offer "A Night on the Town." The downtown Monett program offers extended hour shopping and live entertainment for the evening.
The June installment of Broadway Nights will reflect a number of changes. Organizer Shaun Bennett said coffee shops have opted to begin the entertainment at 7 p.m. to allow shoppers uninterrupted access to the stores. Participating stores will also close at 7 p.m.
Performers will include Chelsea Jones at Mocha Jo's, 404 E. Broadway, and the Captain's Son at Denali Dreams, 316 E. Broadway.
Participating merchants will offer a variety of seasonal merchandise. The clothing stores have their summer lines and accessories available. The Trunk will have a buy-one-get-one-half-off sale underway.
Bruner's Pharmacy will have Father's Day gift ideas and special items like a special on sand toys. Strawberry Festival T-shirts will also be available in limited supplies at several stores.
Mocha Jo's invites visitors to try its new frozen yogurt and Jocaccino's, a new line of blended coffee drinks. The menu at Denali Dreams also has new items.
This will be the last monthly Broadway Nights, which has been held on the second Friday of the month since November 2009. While some merchants wanted to continue on a monthly basis, Bennett said the general consensus has been to drop back to a quarterly schedule with special attractions and promotions.
"The hope is that if we put more into it and combine it into a family event, we might be able to expand participation to more stores," Bennett said.
The next Broadway Nights will be an early fall event in September, a major event for December and a spring event leading up to the Strawberry Festival in June.
This week will offer a particularly good occasion to for a an outing in warmer evening weather, Bennet observed.
"Come down, hang out and enjoy a nice evening," he added.
