The Monett WaterThrashers opened the 2011 summer season with a strong showing at Parsons, Kansas over the weekend. Monett swimmers earned seven gold medals at the Parsons Invitational.
William Bloss led the Thrashers with a trio of golds, two silvers, and a bronze. He won the Boys 13-14 50 fly, 13-14 100 free, and the 13-14 50 breast while scoring 47 points in his six events.
Logan Umfleet scored 41 points in the Boys 8 and under division. Umfleet won the 25 Free, and earned three silver medals as well.
Harrison Finch scored 38 points in the Boys 10 and under division. Finch won the 50 fly and placed third in four other events to achieve his point total.
Daniel Bryan placed second in all four of his events in the Boys 15-18 division, scoring 28 total points.
Ethan Umfleet won the Boys 8 and under 50 free, and scored 25 points in that division.
Wesley Merriman won the Boys 8 and under 25 back, and placed second in the 25 free and 100 im, scoring 23 points.
Bridie Finch scored 25 points in five events in the Girls 8 and under division. She took second in the 25 back. Olivia Janssen added 19 points in the same division, taking second in the 25 free to top her five races.
The Monett WaterThrashers will be in action again on June 11 and 12 at the Carthage Invitational.
