The King's Prairie Community Association will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 2 at the King's Prairie community building, located on Farm Road 2010, across from the Liberty Methodist Church on Highway Z. The public is invited to attend.

The Angel Food Ministry will take orders from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 2 at the First Presbyterian Church of Monett, located at 700 Sycamore. Payment must be made at the time the order is placed. The cost of a box is $30, and payment can be made with cash, money order or food stamps.

The Monett Kiwanis Club will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4 at the American Legion Home, located at 717 E. Broadway. Proceeds will go toward children's programs.

The Pierce City's annual fishing derby will be held on Saturday, June 4 at Pierce City South Park. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and is organized by the Pierce City Fire Department. Local businesses will sponsor the event, and prizes will be available.

A bluegrass, country and gospel music concert will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), of Aurora, located at 39 W. Pleasant St. For more information, call 417-678-2629 or 417-234-6826.

Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located at 405 Seventh St. in Monett, at 7 p.m. on Sundays, 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 8 p.m. on Fridays. For more information, call 236-0216 or 417-678-2278.

A book and garage sale will be held at the Monett Branch Library, located at 213 Sixth St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 3 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. An early bird sale will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 2 for Friends of the Library group members in the library district. The sale is sponsored by the Monett Friends of the Library group to raise matching dollars for the Gates Foundation Grant. The funds will help with the purchase of new computers for all branches of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library.

St. Mary's 24th annual old-fashioned festival will be held on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church grounds in Pierce City. Mass on Saturday begins at 4 p.m., and the festival starts at 5 p.m. Mass on Sunday begins at 8:30 a.m., and the festival begins at 11 a.m.

The Shoeboxes for Soldiers July Fourth collection campaign is underway and will continue through June 4. Area residents can deliver their packages and donations at the following drop-off sites: the Pierce City National Guard Armory; the Monett National Guard Armory; UMB Bank on Broadway in Monett; The Bayou restaurant in Monett; and the Monett American Legion (Tuesdays only from 1 to 4 p.m.).
