A book and garage sale will be held at the Monett Branch Library, located at 213 Sixth St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 3 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. An early bird sale will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 2 for Friends of the Library group members in the library district. The sale is sponsored by the Monett Friends of the Library group to raise matching dollars for the Gates Foundation Grant. The funds will help with the purchase of new computers for all branches of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library.
The Shoeboxes for Soldiers July Fourth collection campaign is underway and will continue through June 4. Area residents can deliver their packages and donations at the following drop-off sites: the Pierce City National Guard Armory; the Monett National Guard Armory; UMB Bank on Broadway in Monett; The Bayou restaurant in Monett; and the Monett American Legion (Tuesdays only from 1 to 4 p.m.).
Aurora will hold its second annual Run for the Parks 5K/10K at 8 a.m. on June 18 at Crosby Park. All proceeds go toward creating walking and biking trails in Aurora parks. Pre-registration is $20 and $25 on the day of the race. For more information, visit www.runfortheparks.org.

The 1960s graduates of the Wheaton High School have scheduled their class reunions for Saturday, July 9 to be held in conjunction with the annual Wheaton Firemen's barbecue. The third annual Pierce City Arts Festival will take place beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 in downtown Pierce City. Several vintners from the Ozark Mountain Wine Trail will be on hand at Bookmarks LLC, offering samples of Missouri wines beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until 5 p.m. This year's event will feature fine arts, free artist workshops and drawings for handmade easels.
On Saturday, June 18, Aurora residents and visitors will Light the Night beginning at 3 p.m. at Baldwin Park in Aurora. The community celebration will feature a hot air balloon glow, activities for children, minute to win it style games, a hot dog eating contest, battle of the bands and food. Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday June 8 at The Library Center located at 4653 S. Campbell Ave. in Springfield. Guest speaker will be Albert Schofield, the Mine Creek superintendent, who will be discussing the topic of "Ordered to be Shot." The meeting is open to the public.
