A Miller man is dead following a two-vehicle collision yesterday on Highway 96 two miles south of Miller.
The wreck occurred at 3:40 p.m. when the driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, Beuford A. Patton, 88, of Miller, failed to yield and pulled into the path of a 2001 Chevrolet utility truck, driven by David D. Daniel, 40, of Republic.
Both drivers were taken by ambulance to St. John's Hospital in Springfield where Patton later died. Both drivers were wearing safety belts.
This is the 34th fatality for Troop D this year.
A Monett woman was injured in an early morning wreck on Schupback Road five miles east of Clever.
That wreck occurred at 12:15 a.m. yesterday when the driver of a 1999 BMW, Julie L. Carpenter, 43, of Monett, ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
An occupant in the Carpenter vehicle, Christine A. Flatt, 42, of Clever, was seriously injured. Carpenter received minor injuries in the wreck. Both were wearing seat belts.
