"Clever (16-11) is a good squad and a well-coached team," said Purdy Head Coach Joshua Hughes. "Our batters were kept off balance all day long, and we couldn't string together any hits."
Chance Wolfe led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a single for the Bluejays. Wolfe scored on a one-out double by Ranger Curtis. who scored on a single by David DelToro.
Burnett scattered three hits, struck out four and didn't walk a batter in the complete game shutout.
Purdy runners reached third base in the first and second innings but failed to score.
Miller allowed five hits, struck out five and walked one.
"I told the boys we have to get faster and stronger in the off-season," said Hughes. "We need to have a baseball in our hands as much as possible. I told our three seniors that it was a honor to be their coach for four years, and if there was anything I could do for them in the future, all they had to do was ask."
Purdy received doubles from Miller and Devon Bennett and a single from Cody Hall to account for the team's three hits.
The Eagles (22-5) won the Ozark 7 Conference and the Class 2, District 12 titles this season.
The Wheaton Bulldogs fell 8-0 to the top-ranked Dora Falcons in the Class 1 sectionals on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs finished the season with a 12-8 record.
Dora is slated to meet Liberal in the quarterfinals today.
