Monday, May 23, 2011 ~ Updated 7:52 PM

A "Monett Loves Joplin" relief effort is now underway. Local residents are encouraged to drop off a tote bag full of hygiene items and label it for a baby, girl, boy, woman or man.

A cloth tote bag or shoe bag can be filled with any of the following items: washcloth; toothbrush; toothpaste; shampoo and conditioner; body wash; new underwear, bra or flip flops; bar of soap; hand sanitizer; deodorant; contact solution or eye drops; wet wipes; comb or brush; razor; hair ties; feminine hygiene products; blanket; Band-aids; rubbing alcohol; peroxide; or items for children under 2 such as wet wipes, diapers and formula.

The hygiene kits can be dropped off at the following locations: the Monett Fundamental Methodist Church at 810 13th St.; Mocha Jo's at 404 E. Broadway; the First Presbyterian Church at 700 Sycamore; or Ozark Christian Church at 7916 Farm Road 2057 in Purdy.

The drive will continue for two to three weeks. If no one is there, leave under the awnings.
