Attempted armed robbey in Mt. Vernon

On Wednesday, May 18 at 9:18 p.m., an attempted armed robbery occurred at the Fastrip convenience store on the the business loop in Mt. Vernon.

The suspect brandished a sawed off shotgun, gave the clerk a plastic sack and demanded the money from the register. The clerk told the suspect she needed to get a key and then went into the office area where authorities were alerted. The suspect left the store.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately age in his 40s with a thin build, brown curly hair and wearing a tan coat. The suspect also had a mustache that appeared to be fake.

Information can also be submitted online at blcrimestoppers.com. Any persons giving information can remain anonymous.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for the apprehension of this suspect.
