The Monett City Council will act on contracts and accept public comment on utilities plans at the monthly meeting at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at Monett City Hall.
Council members plan to engage professional services to seek a grant from the Land and Water Conservation and Baseball Tomorrow Fund. A resolution will be passed endorsing the city's participation in local downtown revitalization.
Public comment will be accepted on the city's proposed 10-year contract with Empire District Electric for the wholesale purchase of electricity. Comment will also be accepted on plans to seek a vote on revenue bonds in August to build a water treatment plant. Final action on both measures has also been scheduled.
A new ordinance will be introduced relating to cemetery monuments. Final passage is expected on upgrading the city's building codes to the 2006 International edition.
Emergency consideration will be given to a proposal to designate certain streets or alleys as one way. Trash truck bids will also be reviewed. Bills for the month will be paid.
Department heads will likely review work undertaken during the past month.
The meeting in council chambers is open to the public.
