Located in the former Raymond's Mexican Restaurant at 15 W. Commercial St., the new eatery features breakfast all day long, as well as home-style lunch and dinner entrees.
Owners of the diner are Pierce City residents Ben and Lanae Haase. They bring a wealth of experience to the business. LaNae worked at Hungry House Restaurant in Sarcoxie for nearly five years. Ben worked in maintenance at Hungry House. Two full-time cooks from Hungry House have joined the staff at Nae's Diner as well as another local cook for meal preparation. Three full-time waitresses and two dishwashers are also employed at the new restaurant.
"We wanted to get out on our own," Lanae said. "We also wanted to help Pierce City. There was nowhere to eat in the evenings."
The menu features such staples as all-you-can-eat ham, beans and cornbread daily, a salad bar, breakfast omelets and skillets and appetizers such as onion blossoms, wings and mushrooms. On Friday nights, Nae's Diner will offer all-you-can-eat catfish.
A grand opening celebration will take place on Saturday, June 11 in conjunction with the third annual Pierce City Arts Festival and the opening of the new Pierce City Farmer's Market.
Diner hours are from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
"I think it will be good," Lanae said. "We are excited to be in Pierce City."
