Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 5/18/11

   Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows and slaughter bulls sold 2.00-
3.00 lower. A high percent of the offering went to slaughter. Slaughter
buyers indicate that two contrasting weather factors, the dry weather in the
southwest and floods along the Mississippi, are forcing additional cows onto
the market. Supply was heavy and demand moderate for slaughter classes.

and 3rd stage 975-1365 lbs most 885.00-1085.00, several better quality
black and black whiteface 1150.00-1225.00, 1st stage 1090-1100 lbs 760.00-850.00; broken mouth 3rd stage 1210 lb indiv. 850.00. Large 1-2  5 yrs to
short and solid mouth 2nd and 3rd stage 1375-1535 lbs 1060.00-1150.00.
