Monett Cubs thinclads qualify for sectionals

The Bolivar boys won the Class 3 District 6 Track and Field Championships at Carl Junction on Saturday, rolling up a total of 113.5 points. Cassville was sixth with 54, and Monett tied Aurora for 14th with 23.

Matt Murphy placed third in the 300-meter hurdles, clocking 43.8.

Chris Renteria qualified for sectionals with his fourth place finish in the 800-meter run, running 2:07.04.

The Cubs 4x800 meter relay team qualified for sectionals. The squad of Juan Renteria, Chris Renteria, Bill Townsend and Isaac Weber placed third with a time of 8:47.07.

Chris Renteria placed fifth in the 3,200-meter event with a 10:36.04.

Monett's 4x400 meter relay team of Connor Kimzey, Juan Renteria, Chris Renteria and Kyle Woods finished seventh in 3:50.74.

Girls district results

Raigan Ratliff won the 800-meter dash for the Lady Cubs with a time of 2:33.71.

Jennifer Frazier took second in the shot with a toss of 35'9.75" and third in the discus, throwing the plate 101'2".

Amanda McKinney qualified in the triple jump, placing fourth with a mark of 31'0.5".

Hannah Martin scored in the 1,600-meter run, taking fifth, and in the high jump, taking eighth place. Madison Carlin was fifth in the high hurdles. Desiree Fowler placed fifth in the discus. Sophie Fulton placed seventh in the 800-meter run. Faith Schmidt and McKinney placed seventh and eighth in the long jump.

Monett's 4x800 meter relay team of Fulton, Martin, Ratliff and Brittany Schultz placed fifth. The 4x400 meter relay squad of Fulton, Carlson, Bailey Peterson and Ratliff finished eighth.

Qualifying athletes move on to the Class 3 sectional meet, which will be held at Marshfield on Saturday.
